You may even have seen the words "hors contrat, accredited by the French Government Rectorat" somewhere and wondered what they actually mean. Here's the plain-language version. 👇
In France, private schools are either "sous contrat" (contracted with the State and funded by it) or "hors contrat" (independent, self-funded, and free to design their own curriculum). ABI School is hors contrat. This is precisely what allows us to offer genuine 50/50 bilingual STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) education rather than following a standardised national programme.
But hors contrat does not mean unregulated.
Before opening, every hors contrat school must formally declare itself to the Recteur de l'Académie - the regional representative of the French Ministry of Education. That declaration is also transmitted to the mayor, the prefect, and the public prosecutor. After opening, regular and thorough inspections by the Rectorat cover both teaching quality and school administration.
ABI School has completed every step of this process. We are fully accredited. ✅
