And when we avoid them, we teach them something: that some questions are too dangerous to explore. That disagreement should be avoided. That complexity should be feared.

Because avoiding complexity doesn't create peace - it creates ignorance, which doesnβt prepare children for a pluralistic world. π
Because they are already living among people different from them. Their friendβs family might practice a different religion (or none at all). Their neighbour might have two dads. Their classmate might have had to flee from a war.
We can protect them from confronting the reality of these differences now. Or we can prepare them to navigate them with wisdom. We choose preparation. π±
