Those words hurt to hear. 💔
But before you panic, remember that "I hate school" might mean:
- I'm bored
- I'm lost
- I'm lonely
- Nobody listens to me
- I'm scared
- This approach doesn't fit me
Your job? Figure out which one they mean.
Instead of saying:
❌ "Everyone hates school sometimes."
Try:
✅ "What happened today?"
✅ "Is there a moment of the day you want to discuss?"
✅ "Do you feel safe?"
But sometimes it's not your child who has a problem. It's the school that doesn't fit them.
Signs a different approach might help:
🔍 Curious at home, shut down at school
🔍 Learns by doing, not listening
🔍 Asks too many questions
🔍 Thrives on projects, struggles with worksheets
🔍 Needs movement and autonomy
Which is why we founded ABI School: we heard "I hate school" too often.
ABI School. STEAM pedagogy. Small classes. Questions celebrated. Project-based learning.
If your child says "I hate school" and the traditional approach isn't working—
Let's talk. 💙
