We have chosen to offer a bilingual French–English environment from the age of two because early childhood is a uniquely powerful time for language learning. At this stage, children acquire languages naturally, through interaction, play, and everyday routines — without pressure or formal instruction.
Introducing bilingualism early allows children to grow confident in both languages while supporting their overall cognitive, social, and emotional development.
Children are cared for by two adults at all times:
Both languages are present throughout the day, allowing children to associate each language with a consistent adult and to begin understanding and using both naturally.
From Preschool and onwards, children experience a structured time-based immersion:
This ensures balanced exposure while allowing children to engage fully in learning, discussions, and activities in each language. This also helps ensure that children do not exclusively gravitate towards their preferred language.
For lower and upper secondary school, we have chosen to continue a structured immersion approach, with students dividing their time between the instruction of subjects in both English and French.
This ensures consistent and balanced exposure, while allowing students to fully engage in each language and develop proficiency without favouring one over the other.
